So for Groceries, we have small stores, large grocery stores and several of the warehouse type grocery-retail stores. The costs for food are generally comparable to a large city like NYC – it is not cheap but the selection is very good in comparison to what we use to have…

There are lots of smaller stores in just about every commercial location where you will find that friendly “Good Day!” attitude. It is good to look at the grocery stores to know where to find what and to see if you would enjoy doing this weekly chore on St.Thomas!

Clothing - Here we don’t have as great a selection but it is getting better all the time.

There are clothing stores for the “young” and thinner body types such as BGBG, Black & White but for the larger ladies there is Marianne’s and Kmart but depending upon your personal taste, you may consider having a personal shopper in a stateside department store or shop on line.. We do have several stores that do sell swim suits, resort beach attire but shopping on line is a wonderful invention. Also it is a great excuse to take a quick trip to the states when the sales are happening for summer stuff and pay for your trip with the savings! Don’t forget the shoes!

For shoes – You may consider switching to sandals? A great sandal maker downtown is Zora’s and you know you have become part of the island living once you get a pair of sandals made for you! Zora’s telephone is (340) 774 2559 and the website is www.ZoraofStThomas.com. I think Zora has been here since the early 60’s – you’ll love her sandals as they last for years & now have cushioning & support so much so a lot of Drs. Will tell you to get her sandals for your feet. How’s that for a pitch! As you can tell I have a gold, a silver, a pewter, a brass, a blue, a red and I’m thinking on a green pair to round out my wardrobe!

Art - We are fortunate as we have many, many art galleries but my most favorite is Mango Tango, Jane Coombes and Smokey are the owners with Melvin overseeing the framing & installation departments!
